Our top Unesco’s sights

At the end of the year it is time to do some statistics, to go through some past experiences, lessons and memories. Even though we are not fond of statistics, we´ve looked on our travels from that point of view. This time we were focusing on sights from Unesco´s world heritage list that we have seen quite a lot in all those years. I will write about those Peter and I have visited together, even though there are some more of those we have been there, but not together. But those belong in another story. 116 Unesco´s sights that we have visited together – uau, that´s quite a lot.

But the number means nothing if behind it there isn´t any memory, energy, experience or love to travel, nature and world. We´ve got a lot of experiences and all of them changed us a little and helped us to see the world and us in it in different, more mature, perspective. But our love to travels isn´t over yet and nothing indicates that it could even happen 🙂 .

You don´t forget first steps together, so Paris, Istanbul and Cappadocia will be in my heart forever. Special place on Unesco list have Italy and Greece as they are our favorite countries that we have also visited many times. We were twice in beautiful Meteora and many times in the Dolomites – we don´t count anymore. We will come back there for sure.

The oldest national park on the world – Yellowstone and Canadian Banff made the biggest impression on us, it was truly magical. Right behind them are high attitude rice terraces in Batad, Philippines and sights of Oman and Iceland. Children can´t forget about their first time in the tropics on Sri Lanka with many sights protected by Unesco.

Maldives and Indonesian Sulawesi are not on Unesco World Heritage list, but they should be. Coral islands and coral reefs, fauna and flora and their colors are breathtaking and unfortunately every year less intact. Sulawesi is special story for itself – Tana Toraja and fairytale Togian islands should deserve special place.

And last but not least – what are the places we would like to go to in the future?

There are many whishes and many directions. Next year the biggest of them will come true as we are finally going to Africa. But before that, in a month, we are going to explore paths of the Mayan Indians and to indulge in Caribbean blueness.

And further on in 2018?

On the first place of our wish list are Galapagos Islands with Ecuador, just behind them are Peru and Australia. We are more and more attracted to colorful India with Andaman. Nepal, Venezuela and Madagascar will probably have to wait for a few more years. 

We will see what life will bring us. Until than we intend to enjoy in small everyday-life moments and be grateful for everything that has been given to us.
