Parga is a little town by the sea on North West of continental Greece. It is very beautiful starting point for exploring hidden and less hidden places of Greece – from mountainous mysterious Zagorija, wonderful Meteora, refreshing Acheron River, gorgeous islands Lefkas, Kefalonia and Corfu and even more beautiful but less known Paxos and Antipaxos, the deepest canyon in Europe – Vikos Gorge… and more and more.
I like Parga. I like it market on Tuesdays and Fridays. Herb-lady that sells wild oregano and thyme at evenings. Basil that they use instead of flowers or beside them to decorate taverns and coastal restaurants. Hustle and bustle of narrow streets that go all the way to the castle, where there is great view at evenings. Salesman in local store that takes the best honey under the counter, which he hasn´t intended to sell. The best gyros in town at the best price – 2 Euros. Pancakes baker that goes to get some ingredients by the way. Little Bakery Achileas that is best to go to early in the morning and where you just cannot leave without tasting every single Greek home-made goodies. And more and more.
When I come to Parga, I have I feeling that I came back home. It is beautiful.
